No Third Successvie League cup final for the Thirds
Date : March 7th 2009
Fixture : League Game - Home
Result : Harold Wood 0 - 2 Little Waltham
A very disappointing result followed an equally disappointing performance. The fact it was a semi final seemed to pass most of the team by.
The game started even in possesion and Wood could have gone ahead through Oldfield , but his stinging shot was well saved by the opposing keeper. Soon after though it would be Wood's inability to actually hold onto the ball in midfield as well as hesitation in defence that allowed Waltham to take the lead with a quick break down the right and a goal sneaked in at the back post. Few chances followed in a cagey first half which saw waltham already pulling out time wasting tactics and more were to follow in the second half. Woods best spell at the start of the second saw Oldfield and Corke not test the keeper properly and frustration seem to get the best of Harold Wood as the dieing minutes saw Waltham steal a second and kill off any comeback with Wood having to surrender their hold on the cup with little more than a murmer.
A vast improvement is required if they are to challenge for honours this season.
Team Lineup : Terry; Rafis(M.Atkinson), Ribbets, Preece, Sampson(Walsh); Edwards, Hammond, Corke(Green), Coster, Oldfield, Francois
